Mathematical Sciences Research Centre (MSRC) Federal Urdu University of Art’s Sciences and Technology is an established institution from 2008. Approved by Syndicate and Senate, The Code book /Rules Governed by The Center for Mathematical Sciences Research Centre, in The Code book of Jamia Urdu University. MSRC is a premier academic and research institution dedicated to advancing knowledge in mathematics and its applications, include Algebra, Astrophysics, Methods of Modern Mathematical Physics and Mathematical Modeling. Furnishing facilities for advanced study and research in Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, Statistics, Mathematical Economics, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space and Planetary Sciences, computational sciences and other associated areas.

Research and Academic Contributions
The MSRC has played a significant role in research and education, producing 12 PhD and 30 MPhil Degree Successfully. The MSRC focuses on both fundamental and applied research, Arranging National and International lectures, colloquia, seminars, workshops symposium/ conferences in mathematics. The Centre has Provided in-service training to those already engaged in research and academic aspects of mathematics. Established labs, to promote the objectives of the Centre offering consultation services to universities and other agencies.
Research Laboratories
1.Solar-Activities Lab at the Mathematical Sciences Research Centre (MSRC) was established in 2008, during which the Solar Astronomy Lab was also upgraded. Since then, the lab has been involved in various research activities, including producing research papers, organizing research seminars, and conducting MPhil and PhD research. The lab’s work has focused on telescope, solar panels, windmills, and related research, with windmill research continuing until 2013.
2.The Proficiency Enhancement Lab at the Mathematical Sciences Research Centre was established under National Research Project for Universities (Project No. 1258/NRPU-HEC-2010) in 2012-2013, under the supervision of Dr. Rashid Kamal (PI)Ansari and Dr. Shaheen Abbas(Co-PI). As , a Principle Investigator Dr. Shaheen Abbas’(PI) also secured the other National Research Project for Universities HEC project 20-4039/R&D/HEC/14/697). The project was conducted in the Proficiency Enhancement Lab from 2016 to 2020 and resulted in research seminars, workshops, industry collaborations, and the production of a PhD thesis under her supervision.
3.Laboratory of Applied Mathematics and Data Analysis (LAMDA)
The Laboratory of Applied Mathematics and Data Analysis (LAMDA) was established under Project No. 408/IPFP-II (Batch-I)/SRGP/NAHE/HEC/2020/167) at the Mathematical Sciences Research Centre (MSRC), It was initiated by Dr. Muhammad Ilyas and Dr. Shaheen Abbas with the support of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. The primary goal of LAMDA is to promote MPhil and PhD-level teaching and research in applied mathematics, fostering collaboration between academia and industry. LAMDA offers an environment for high-quality research publications and provides solutions to complex industrial and technological challenges through mathematical techniques.
Initiator of LAMDA Dr. Shaheen Abbas and Dr. Muhammad Ilyas pay to tributes Muslim great scientists/ Mathematician Muhammad Ibn Musa Al Khwarizmi and Nasir al-Din al-Tusi. The two research groups are a cutting-edge interdisciplinary research laboratory whose work spans a variety of fields, including: Space Science and Astronomy, Industrial Mathematics. Mathematical Informatics and Urban-Bioinformatics, Climatology, Financial Mathematics, Mathematical Cryptography, Process and Quality Management, Communication Mathematics.

LAMDA is Established into two specialized research units: Al- Khwarizmi Data Integration for Urban Informatics (Al-Khwarizmi DIUI) Unit and Al- Tusi Solar Terrestrial and Atmospheric Relationship Al-Tusi STAR) Unit.
1.Al-Khwarizmi Data Integration for Urban Informatics (Al-Khwarizmi DIUI)
Focuses on Mathematical informatics, employing mathematical models to address challenges in data integration, urban planning, and bioinformatics.
- Al-Tusi Solar Terrestrial and Atmospheric Relationship (Al-Tusi STAR)
Dedicated to exploring solar-terrestrial interactions and their influence on Earth’s atmosphere, contributing to research in climate science and astrophysics.

The 2nd International Conference on the Role of Mathematics and Allied Sciences for Sustainable Development, following the success of the first conference, the 2nd International Conference on the Role of Mathematics and Allied Sciences for Sustainable Development: Bridging Industry and Academia is scheduled for April 25-26, 2025.
Objective: The 2025 conference aims to continue building on the successes of the previous event, further strengthening ties between academic research and industry applications in the field of mathematics and its role in addressing global sustainability challenges.

And Co-, organizer / collaborator Partner Department of Mathematical Sciences FUUAST. The conference focused on fostering collaboration between academia and industry, showcasing the pivotal role that mathematics and allied sciences play in sustainable development.
Outcome: The event brought together leading experts, researchers, and industry professionals to explore innovative solutions for sustainable development through the application of mathematical sciences.
- Awareness Session on Islamic Banking Math To Power Industry Series # 2
A collaboration between LAMDA (DIUI), the National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBF), and GC University Hyderabad was organized, focusing on Integrating Mathematical Applications in Islamic Banking and Data analysis. On 24th February 2024, an Awareness Session on Islamic Banking as part of the Math Power to Industry Series 2. attracted 300 plus students. It focused on Islamic banking principles, offering students internships and training courses to enhance their expertise in the field.
- Cosmic Convergence: Birding Mathematical Frontiers in Space Sciences
The Cosmic Convergence: Bridging Mathematical Frontiers in Space Science seminar and workshop, held on 29th November 2023, in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics at GC University Hyderabad and Institute of Space Science and Technology, University of Karachi, explored the use of mathematics in space sciences. Sessions included Drone Technology and GIS and Remote Sensing Applications, showcasing the role of these technologies in advancing space research.
4.International Symposium “Math To Power Industry Series # 2
International Symposium Future with Technology, Cyber Security and Data Science, 20th March 2023, collaboration Alfa Tech and the Department of Mathematics at GC University Hyderabad. This collaborative symposium, not only illuminated the Importance of Data Science and Cyber Security but also highlighted the pivotal role mathematics plays in powering diverse industries Featuring a distinguished panel of speakers, the seminar showcased luminaries such as Syed Ahrar Naqvi, CEO of EBRYX and an alumnus of Stanford University, USA, and Dr. Mohibi Hussain, Director of Security Consulting for Avanade, holding a PhD from Cambridge University, UK. The diverse expertise extended to Muhammad Ahmed Zaeem, Deputy Director of FIA Cyber Wing, and Dr. Shahab Tahzeeb, Assistant Professor at NED University.
5.Sky Watch Evening Series
The celestial heavens came alive with intellectual curiosity and cosmic fascination as the Laboratory of Applied Mathematics and Data Analysis Al-TUSI STAR Unit in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics, GC University Hyderabad, stargazers from FUUAST and other esteemed universities gathered beneath the expansive canvas of the twilight sky, orchestrated the inaugural Sky Watch Evening Series. The event, held on March 03, 2023, The “Sky Watch Evening Series” commenced not only as a visual feast for astronomy enthusiasts but also as a platform for collaborative dialogue among students, faculty members, and researchers.

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to establish collaborative research initiatives between the institutions, facilitating joint projects, knowledge exchange, and innovation in mathematics and astronomy. This partnership will enhance academic cooperation and advance research capabilities in both fields.

On 26th April 2024, An MoU with Professor Rakib Efendiyev, Chairman of the Department of Mathematics at Baku Engineering University, Azerbaijan. This collaboration aims to enhance academic and research opportunities between the two institutions.
On the same day, an MoU with Professor Firuza Rahmat, Director of the Astronomical Observatories under the Tajikistan Academy of Sciences, further strengthening partnerships in mathematics and astronomy.
